Linda Nielsen began her Amazon journey in August of 2016. She was already an experienced eBay seller and worked car shows with a wholesaler selling automotive items.
She still sells today on eBay and in some car shows.
In less than five months, with almost no guidance, she ended her first year with $24,000 in sales.
But the real story is how she has raised 3 children alone after a heartbreaking divorce that left her with nothing, not even any credit to her name.”The biggest hurdle to business building I faced was having no credit, not even a line of credit or a zero percent credit card I could use.” In addition, she received no child support and her ex rarely took the children for visitation.
After every Amazon payout, Linda would measure the meager money she and her children could live off of while she plowed the remainder back into inventory.
May 31, 2017, she joined Amazon Seller Tribe. “I had finally gotten a Target credit card with a $250 line of credit. I had to call the company and make sure I had enough to pay my first month’s membership to Tribe.”
Linda said, “One of the first things Gaye did was tell us about Fingerlings being hot. I would buy up all I could, sell them merchant-fulfilled and because the money hit my bank account faster, I would pay down my card, sit in the parking lot on the phone until the company showed I had a credit balance and then go back into the store and buy more inventory.”
Little by little her credit grew. She was thrilled during a Tribe coaching round to hear Garry teach about managing credit wisely. “That’s such an important part of business,” she said.
Last year she nearly hit $600,000 in sales on Amazon, plus her eBay and wholesale sales. Her children are now grown. Linda is proof-positive, grit and determination coupled with great support from Tribe can help a single mother of three survive tough years and come through victorious.
This will be Linda’s sixth coaching round helping students master Merchant-Fulfilled selling.
